Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner File for Divorce 2 Years After Separation

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are formally calling it quits.

After announcing their separation in June 2015 and trying to make it work over the past year, the superstar couple has now filed for divorce, Entertainment Online has confirmed. Affleck and Garner have filed “proper,” without legal representation, and filed both the petition and response – which mirror each other exactly – together.

The former couple is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their three children, but did not specify anything about spousal support.

According to reports, Affleck and Garner did not sign a prenuptial agreement, indicating that all earnings during their marriage, which began in June 2005 and lasted for 10 years before the actors announced their separation, would be split 50/50 unless another agreement is reached.

They are also said to still be in the process of negotiating a financial settlement and could finalise the divorce within the next six months.

The news has come just a few weeks after Affleck announced that he had completed treatment for alcohol addiction at a local rehabilitation clinic. “Ben is doing great,” a source close to the actor had said in March. “As always, he’s enjoying spending time with his children and friends, and working.”
